Mae Powell
August 20, 1925 - December 15, 1992
Mrs. Mae Powell was born in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, on August 20, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mammie Sanford. She attended school in North Carolina and moved to Boston, Mass, in the 1960s. Mrs. Powell was a very hard-working woman and worked several jobs in Boston until she retired. She departed this life on December 15, 1992, at 8:30 a.m. at Carney Hospital in Boston, Mass.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her eight children, four sons; James, Larry, Willie and Lorenzo Powell, and daughters Beatrice Powell Foy, Rose Powell Long, Evelyn Powell Coleman and Shirley Powell Swan, all of Boston, Mass. She also leaves 34 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of Boston, Mass., as well as four brothers; Earl and Henry Sanford of Newport News, Va., Ernest Sanford of Ahoskie, N.C., and Johnny Reid of Murfreesboro, N.C., and three sisters; Marie Faison of Greensboro, N.C., Louise Stevenson and Mazie Futrell, both of Hampton, Va. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
