Alberta D. Pope

May 7, 1929-January 21, 2020

Deaconess Alberta D. Pope of Mount Horeb Road, Franklin, departed her earthly life on January 21, 2020 while a patient in Courtland Healthcare Center. The Hertford County, North Carolina native was born May 7, 1929.

Deaconess Pope was a member of Nebo Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board and Missionary Circle. She was a former member and president of the Monroe Chapel Missionary Circle. Alberta was also a member of the Franklin Chapter of the Red Hatters Club.

Deaconess Pope was married to the late Johnnie L. Pope. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant, employed with East Pavilion Nursing Home for more than ten years.

Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her children: Albetty Alexander (Don), Muriel Myrick (Reverend Clarence), Johnny W. Pope (Nidia), Sharon Vernon (Trent); twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three great greatgrandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service of transition will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2020, Nebo Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC with Pastor James Brown delivering the eulogy. Her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 10:00 AM. The committal and benediction will follow in Piney Grove Church Cemetery, Newsoms, Virginia.
