The Preamble introduces the rest of the document in a brief paragraph, stating the reasons for the group and the constitution/bylaws. The inclusion of some general ground rules that govern the group is helpful as well. Preambles may include the group’s history and original reasons for organizing.
PSR Bylaws:
Article I. Preamble
These Bylaws of the Porter-Sanford-Reid Family Reunion (PSR Family or the Reunion) define the role, responsibilities, and membership of the Porter-Sanford-Reid Family Reunion, whose members are individuals related to or descendants (by blood, marriage, adoption, or guardianship) of Mamie Porter Sanford Reid Eley. These Bylaws also define the respective roles and responsibilities of the committees of the PSR Family, provide for the appointment of officers, and authorize other acts and functions to promote the responsible and efficient governance and operation of the Porter-Sanford-Reid Family Reunion.
