I can think of no greater black history to celebrate than our own family history. In celebration of Black History Month, I have posted an updated Porter-Sanford-Reid Family Tree! The tree currently lists over 640 family members, covers seven generations, and goes back to the 1870s to include over 150 years of our history.
Living a fulfilled life has a lot to do with knowing who you are and where you come from. Understanding the value of knowing your familial heritage and passing this knowledge down between generations is particularly important in the African American community.
I hope you find the family tree informative and that it inspires you to keep the family bonds tight.
Remember, this is a work in progress and NOT a final product. There are likely mistakes and omissions. But you can help by using the “Porter-Sanford-Reid Family Tree Update Form” to add yourself or your family to the tree or suggest corrections.
The tree is text-based, with a few pictures and documents, but more photos, documents, and diagrams will be added in the future.
